evidently not such a primal instinct...since everyone seems to be struggling. i reckon it is a difference with the way boys and girls interact with the world (with exceptions of course). boys want to own things, and writing about it, makes them a part (though I am not inferring that this is your, or the sole motivation) of it. or perhaps this is just another dj myth?

Stephen Graham Ellen Willis. She's great. Lisa Blanning, Anne Hilde Neset in the Wire. Geeta Dayal. Susan McClary, Carolyn Abbate, Susannah Cusick, Tia DeNora are all great on the classical side. Sure there's loads more! Yesterday at 00:19 ·
Stephen Graham Oh, I like the blog 'It's Her Factory'. Yesterday at 00:19 ·
Julie Cafritz No. No, I don't. No male ones either. Sorry Everett. I don't like music criticism. I have almost zero interest in reading record or concert reviews. I do like good interviews/interviewers but that's about it. It's one of the reasons I your blog. You pretty much stick to yea or nay. you point people in the direction of something interesting occasionally setting it briefly in context by putting it along side something that came before. You are brief and to the point. You express provocative opinions and ask provocative questions. So why are you making the distinction? My list would be short no matter what and may or may not include critics of both genders. I assume it is because you are genuinely seeking out info about obscure critics languishing in some unknown female ghetto somewhere. The male critic gene pool is not much larger. I suspect if you asked for a list of fave males the lists you would find similar overlap. Explain please, Mr. True. Yesterday at 01:35 ·

I rarely notice who is doing the writing. Kitty Empire is probably the one I'm most exposed to via The Guardian
